Coloring Between the Lines

There's a lot going on this week. The colored stucco layer is going up! Today the green went on and tomorrow they'll start on the orange. This was a magical moment, as if the drawings were coming to life. We worked a long time on those colors — trying out different ones and filling in areas of the house plans on the computer.

Jody watched them working and says they work the surface for quite awhile...spraying it with water and smoothing it down. The color will change some, as this is still wet. But we both love it!

The metal guys are finishing up the gutters, flashing and downspouts, finally! They've had quite a few setbacks, most recently they got a shipment of faulty metal that broke when it was bent, so they had to wait a long time to get more.

The painters are painting away on cabinets, doors, windows and have started sanding the beams for actual colored paint that goes on the ceiling.

We were told that we can give our "months notice" here at the apartment. So we should be back in by March if all goes as planned.

Another piece that is happening is the counter tops are going in. The material is a honed quartzite/composite. Here's one in the lower bathroom:

Ohmygosh! You'll be in there before you know it! And yet it seems like forever.

I love that second pic, how the beautiful blue-green of the sky picks right up where the house elements leave off. Very nice composition. Did you see that?

A few friends have the quartz composite countertops and they're really nice.
