Here I'm in the office looking toward the front entry. Code required us to have a large step in the doorway, where the level steps down, because the door opens inward.
The whole downstairs has new wood floors.
Looking down from the stairs into the entry room, that's our front door with the 6 small windows in it. They rigged up an interesting rack to dry the doors on.

Our wonderful tiled bathrooms...this is the upstairs bath.
We met with a second shower enclosure contractor and worked out the shower glass design. He can give us our perfect design in 1/2" glass for the same price another guy was charging for 3/8" glass, plus he seemed much more knowledgeable. The other guy we met with seemed to be new at it and couldn't advise us the way we needed.

The mortar bed is laid for the tile hearth on the floor and the hearth that sticks out below the fireplace is partially ready.
I'm going to feel like a princess here.

OMG, the bathrooms look phenomenal! The tilework is just gorgeous. I'm envious!! So glad you found someone you can trust for the glass, experience really does matter.
All that beautiful light wood is going to look so great. Does the house smell much, or is it all low VOC?
I like the wide step, nothing worse than not looking down and suddenly there's a drop-off you didn't expect. There's one at Lane's Bakery, don't know how they get away with it, that catches me every time.
Can't wait until you can move back to your palace, your highness!

Have you begun to mentally "put things away"? I would be at this point. The bathrooms are going to be a joy. One of my consistent unpleasantnesses of this place is that I still feel like I'm cleaning someone else's bathroom!
Les- the house smells for sure. The warm dry days are helpful!
I think they are using and oil based paint on the wood..not sure. The paint for the ceilings is low VOCs. I suppose the floors will be stinky too. We'll have to let it out gas for a week or so before we can move back in.
