Taking Shape!

Now you can really see the house coming through, with more skin on the bones.

Here are views from the back. The tall angular shape is the fireplace, which will be stucco and probably an orange-ish earthy color.
The vented, rigid insulation is stacked on the roof. They've installed quite a bit of it already. The reason for using the vented insulation is - there's no attic or cavity above the ceiling. So the venting had to be in the roofing material.

This isn't a great photo, but it's the wall between the driveway and the back deck — the back entry. There are 2 arched openings. One will have a gate in it and the other is a window for Mika to sit in or get into the deck area when we fence it off on that side.

Inside now, looking at the dining room/kitchen from the living room. The stairway area is to the left:

Got all the holes drilled and wiring in on the roof. Whew. Hard decisions, and very permanent!

Notice the arch in the upper parapet wall. It's an artistic statement, for sure. Jody is especially excited to see this detail coming to life. You'll see the sky and trees through it. I like it, too! We were sitting up there on the roof imaging ways to light it — Christmas lights? :)

A parting shot. It's an imposing structure, but adding the porch and porch roof around the lower floor will help to widen and soften it, I think.

Rain is expected tomorrow! We hope they can get the roof waterproofed by then.
