A better shot of the hardy panels, required by the structural engineer:
Digging to form up the planter/pond and the stem wall to hold up the deck in back. They use a really neat laser levels to find the points in space:
This is under the house where the tool room was and it's where the hardy panels will go. They tie the floors to the foundation. Something else is going on in the front hole with rebar—some beefing up of the foundation I think:
The other side of the above area:
This is looking at the stairwell from the downstairs room, sort of near where the new front door will be. Jody designed the stairwell as open so you can look right up into the upstairs when it's done. We'll be removing the rafters between the big beams in this room so the ceiling will look the same as the upstairs looks. It did have sheet rock hiding these rafter/beams.

What is a hardy panel and what does it do???
Les- the hardy panels are for sheer strength and tie the floors through to the foundation. I was wrong about where they'll go. It's the hole beyond the one you see in front. I'll change the caption.
WOW! What a project! I hope you will receive a great deal of satisfaction from all the time and effort you are putting into this.
Nancy and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with you and Jody along with "the kids". We are very big fans of Danu. She is a breath of fresh air that is always welcome. We both agree that "she's a keeper".
We would enjoy seeing you again soon.
